If you follow me on Twitter, you may have seen that I am currently on an extended Christmas and New Years holiday in South Africa, my home country. I moved to London almost two years ago and until now, haven't managed to fit in a trip home.
Needless to say I am having the most amazing time. The weather has barely dropped below 30 degrees since I arrived on Christmas day and I have been living in the pool. I have spent the last week with in Cape Town and am currently in my hometown of Johannesburg (which I will post about in more details in separate posts). My family and I decided to do New Years Eve/Day a little differently this year and avoid the chaos, crowds and stresses of being in the city.
You may have seen in this post that my 2012 was brought in, in spectacular style with a trip to Amsterdam. For 2013 my family and I chose the Karoo. The Karoo is a deserty area in South Africa which falls on the border of the Northern Cape, Eastern Cape and Free State provinces. Wikipedia does a MUCH better job at describing the area so I will leave it to them.
Definitely not the most exciting of places, needless to say by 11:30pm on December 31st I was fast asleep. The next day we took a drive through the Colesberg and Gariep areas, which are usually places where people will spend the night when driving from Johannesburg to Cape Town or Port Elizabeth and vice versa. Everything was so tranquil and the scenery so beautiful; I couldn't wait to share some of my pictures from the day.
I hope you enjoyed seeing some of my beautiful country! Perhaps an area which people outside of South Africa would not normally see.
One of my 13 goals for 2013 is to pay more attention to my blog. I really do love blogging and the experiences linked to it. Before I left London I met up for coffee with the absolutely stunning Callie from "From The Corners of the Curve" who has really inspired me to push my blogging a lot more. Hopefully this will be the year of an inaugural outfit post from StudioGold!
Wishing you all a fabulous 2013! Xx
P.S: all pictures in this post were taken with my new Canon DSLR, so kindly gifted to me by my Daddy for Christmas! Thanks Pops!

13 goals? do tell!!! need some motivation!!!
ReplyDeleteI don't want to post all of them on my blog just yet, but I've separated my life into different areas and created a goal for each area and the steps I'm going to take to achieve each goal! Sorry I can't elaborate more, good luck with your goals this year :)
DeleteSuch amazing photographs - really makes me yearn for a road trip! I love driving from Joburg to Cape Town (or vice versa) and exploring all the little towns in between! Hope you had a lovely trip back to SA! Sounds like it ;) xx
